Blog Tour: Silver Linings by Jess Impiazzi

SYNOPSIS

When one door closes, and another plan is derailed, it’s time to seek out the ‘Silver Linings’ and step up to the challenge. Jess Impiazzi’s journey of self-discovery, hard lessons, heart-breaking moments, self-care and openness to transformation make for a raw, authentic and inspiring story about how to follow dreams, overcome challenges and celebrate kindness in many forms.

REVIEW

Before reading Impiazzi’s book I have to admit I had never heard of her. Not because of what she did, but rather I never really took upon myself to watch TV programmes. It has never really interested me except for a thing or two. But I feel like my perspective would have been very different to what it is now that I have read the book. However, now that I have, it seems that I have one deep resounding feeling towards her, respect.

Throughout ‘Silver Linings’ she sets out some of the main reasons as to what makes her the person that she is today. One of these is clearly marked as her remarkable mother. You can hear how deeply Impiazzi feels about her mother and how much of a rock and powerhouse she is to not only Impiazzi, but to some of her family members. Showing that disability does not always define you, but rather the actions that we all take to make us who we are.

Her education seems like a huge part of her life in so many different ways. It is clear that from the very beginning she is a very determined woman. In some ways I think she is very relatable, as we all try and find a place in this crazy world we have come to live in. You can hear her struggle, yet pride to help her mum throughout and it really shows how much of a credit she is to her family.

One thing that I believe to be a great addition to the book is the information about the Guide Dog Association. I think that most of us, we don't really get to see the importance that a guide dog makes to someone's quality of life. More now than ever when most of the things that we have been able to do have become narrower. It is especially interesting to see how much goes into providing this type of assistance to people in need and it gives a greater amount of respect that I never really thought of before.

My final thoughts of this book consider how inspirational Jess shows herself throughout her writing. You can tell that she has been through all sorts of ordeals, but somehow she has been able to conquer them all in one way or another through her shear determination and optimism. I take my hat off to her, truly. Would I say that this is a book to read? Totally, I feel especially at the moment for those who are feeling like life is just not going the way that they planned, this is a book to show that there is something amazing on the other side.

Meteorite Deceit

Yes! It's that time. I have read my very first Dan Brown book. Amazing. I think i have came away thinking more about what is happening in the world than any other. Fantastic! This is truly what i would say is a masterpiece, every detail refined to perfection. I believe that i have learnt so much, and it has made me think on how oblivious i am to the world and what type of scandals go on behind our backs. Genre: Techno-Thriller, Conspiracy Publisher: Corgi Year Of Publish: 2001 Pages: 592 Deception is in the air, can you feel it?    But of course as ever the criticisms will be involved within this review. Although today i'm in quite a good mood, so that would probably make the rating higher than intended. Beware! I have decided that i'm going to start it off with how much success that this author has already without me saying anything. First of all, he has two film adaptations based upon his work and he is having another based upon his fourth book 'Inferno...

SEPTEMBER TBR!

Another month ended and school is slowly creeping back on us. Well, so much for the holidays! I have to admit that when it comes to this time in the year i get so depressed. Not only the fact of school dawning once again, but the fact there will be no more lie ins! Tough luck! But it is also because i won't have as much time to talk to you guys (mental cry). Meaning being able to keep up to daily reading... Wah wah! So what have I just received in my box of goodies for this month?... Well, it has to be the entire series of Dan Brown 's  Robert Langdon, as well as other novels written by him. Including Deception Point  and Digital Fortress. Yay! Pages and pages of new books to read!! I must admit that I may have already started Deception Point  before letting you guys know what is happening. Total betrayal I know... Yeah, so in effect it is only 5 out of the six books received are actually TBR. But never mind. Seriously, who could pass on an incredible bestseller-...

Blog Tour: The Beast Hunters Dark Sovereign by Christer Lende

REVIEW So we are back in the world of the Beast Hunters for a sophomore instalment where we see Ara, Khendric and Topper back on another adventure. But this time with a difference. Instead of the world building from the previous book, we get to delve into a mystery with darkness starting to make pace in the background. We meet new characters, some good and some not so much. Not only do we have the overarching themes of beasts but also political intrigue and secretive plots. It is far more intricate than the previous instalment where the characters are making decisive and confident choices. Especially for our fave apprentice, Ara. If you want to get away from the current world affairs, this book will serve as an escape from reality.  What these last two books do remind me of however, is a tv show. Why I say this is because it felt kind of episodic but they both have reinvented themselves with different themes. I found this to be quite good actually. This is because it feels l...

Night Owls and Summer Skies by Rebecca Sullivan

Emma Lane is a newly-minted adult who for the past several years has been living under the custody of her father. It is now summer and she is being driven to her mother's to spend time with her before she goes off into the big bad world. But not all is what she hoped it would. When arriving at her mother's she is told that instead of staying at her mother's home, her mum is going on a cruise... but without her. Instead, she is thrown into the world which she escaped from as a kid, Camp Mapplewood. Camp Mapplewood and her have history that goes way back, but one of the main points which Emma makes early on is the mental health issues which she has inherited from it. The only connection that she does seem to have left since her last encounter is her friend, turned pen pal, Jessie. Emma seems like one of those people who doesn't think before she speaks or doesn't like it when she doesn't get her own way. This is expressed when she realises that she has to spend the...
