Kiki’s Epeolatry

A long time ago back in 2014 I reviewed Alice Oseman's book 'Solitaire' which gave the impression that this universe is vast and in no ways done yet. We got to know a little about Tori Spring, but what about the story between Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson? Well, we have it now and it is glorious; captured in the pages of a comic book which Oseman had drawn herself. Oseman captures themes such as being gay at school and sometimes how bullying might ensue because of their lack of knowledge. There are close friendships and diversity that I don't think I have ever seen before on this level, such as the mention of transgender people, bisexuality, lesbians and of course gay men. In particular this focuses on the love story between Charlie and Nick and how they became to be such a powerhouse that they are in the universe. It's real, it's relatable, it's completely brilliant. Bea is simply a woman who has been taken advantage of in a friendship which she believed to be something more but not reciprocated in the same way. However, it seems like Bea is not a woman who is completely unlucky. Making a big break in fashion blogging, writing in the style of how it is for a plus-sized woman and how difficult it is to find amazing designer clothes to wear has enraptured many readers. I don't think that I have every truly read a book like One to Watch. It truly lived up to its name of being something that must be watched, not just read. Seriously, this book should be made by Hollywood in some capacity. Everything felt as though I was reading more of what happened in a film, rather than a book. Even the epilogue felt more like a resolution from a film and how the end credits roll and they have those little videos that keep you watching to the end. Okay. So I'm not sure how I'm going to get through this review without shouting my words in excitement. If I could stand on a rooftop this very minute and sing to all below (bear in mind my singing voice is not up to par but lets continue for the sake of emphasis) with the greatest 70s pop song it would still not show how good this book is. But one thing that it will show is that I am now angry at not being able to experience the same joy that I did for the very first time that I was able to read it.          Moon Dog is a book which has the honour of what is rarely categorised as being an undiscovered little gem. This book can be identified by all ages as being something which is considered to be relevant not only to the target audience of children, but also ages which are older and have gone through similar events throughout their own childhoods. It is an idea which appeals to most people throughout life, as there are so many people who have had the same fantasy of owning a dog when we were children ourselves. The main characters are secondary school kids named Marcus and Delilah. They are shown to have many varying differences, but the thing that connects them is their love of dogs and how they both wish for one themselves. However, the main plotline is based on a Newfoundland dog which Marcus names Moon Dog.
