Birthday Talk!

Hello. I'm finally back! As some people may already know, I was unable to post last week. To be straight up and honest, it was because of the fact that I had a lot of exams to revise for this week. Which I am now glad to officially announce that I have to only face one left.

There was also a big momentous occasion that took place this Thursday. It was my 18th birthday at last. So to celebrate this, I want to show you all the relevant cake that I had received from my Auntie, which she actually made herself. All the credit goes to her!

I know that you cannot really read the text from the picture, but from what I have analysed (yes, using those fancy words!) it is a diary of Annie, Darren Shan's younger sister in the Saga of Darren Shan. Which, for those people who know me very well, I love this series and have read it over five times. The best story to contribute in celebrating me turning an adult! The smell of the cake is absolutely amazing, which I haven't decided to bite into it just yet - but I am sure that by the time that this posts, there would be at least one slice gone. I would save you all a slice if I could!

My birthday was great, except for the fact that I had to get up early in the morning to attend a two and a half hour English exam. But hey, it is only a part of life! I also got to try out another kind of food as well. Caribbean at a place called Turtle Bay. I had a Jerk Salmon with Sweet Potato Fries (I absolutely love sweet potato)

I still have loads planned to celebrate my birthday, although it is going to be in the next coming week, which isn't a bad thing as my final exam is next week. So I guess it would be more for relief and relaxation. I just wish I had friends who didn't keep on forgetting my birthday every year.

Mary Jane, is a novel that I have been keeping an eye on for quite a while now. It has always been a part of my reading list and only until now have I had possession of a copy. I just wish it didn’t take me so long to read it. Because without a doubt, I think it is probably the best book I’ve read this year. Sunburn by Darren Dash

This is the cover of the recently published book "Sunburn" by Darren Dash (yes, it actually does feature a character getting burnt), which was published earlier than expected on the 1st May. This truly seems like a momentous event. This author has probably influenced my reading patterns the most, since I first picked up a book just for leisure. He is truly an inspirational guy. The cover itself is very sinister. The mix of reds and oranges as well as the sun connotes that the sun plays an antagonising role in the story. Maybe even a factor to all of the characters downfall. The simplicity makes it very intriguing as well as making it feel very uncomforting. Simple but well executed. This demonic masterpiece does not fail to disappoint even the most biggest of horror fans. Blog Tour: The Beast Hunters Dark Sovereign by Christer Lende

REVIEW So we are back in the world of the Beast Hunters for a sophomore instalment where we see Ara, Khendric and Topper back on another adventure. But this time with a difference. Instead of the world building from the previous book, we get to delve into a mystery with darkness starting to make pace in the background. We meet new characters, some good and some not so much. Not only do we have the overarching themes of beasts but also political intrigue and secretive plots. It is far more intricate than the previous instalment where the characters are making decisive and confident choices. Especially for our fave apprentice, Ara.
